About Tea for Guys

What is Tea for Guys and who is it for?

Tea for Guys is a line of loose-leaf herbal tea blends formulated specifically for men's wellness goals — from hormonal vitality and sustained energy to better sleep and fasting support. Each blend is built around research-backed botanicals chosen for the male body. Whether you're an athlete, a busy professional, or just a guy looking to upgrade his daily routine, there's a blend for you. Take our Find Your Blend quiz to see which one fits your lifestyle.

Why make tea specifically for men?

Most teas on the market are formulated without men's specific health needs in mind. Men have unique hormonal profiles, recovery demands, and stress patterns. We built Tea for Guys to address those needs directly — using adaptogens, herbs, and botanicals that support testosterone balance, physical performance, and mental clarity. You can compare every blend side-by-side on our Blend Comparison page.

What makes Tea for Guys different from other herbal teas?

Three things set us apart: purpose-driven formulations designed around men's health research, premium whole-leaf and loose-cut ingredients (never dust or fannings), and transparent labeling so you know exactly what's in every cup. We don't hide behind proprietary blends. Visit our Ingredients page to see every botanical we use and why.

Are Tea for Guys products organic and non-GMO?

We source high-quality, non-GMO ingredients and prioritize organic botanicals wherever possible. Our blends are free from artificial flavors, fillers, and synthetic additives. Each ingredient is selected for both purity and potency so you can feel confident about what you're drinking.

Is Tea for Guys a supplement or a food product?

Tea for Guys is a food-grade beverage, not a dietary supplement. While our blends feature many of the same botanicals found in supplements — like ashwagandha, saw palmetto, and horny goat weed — they're consumed as a brewed tea. As with any herbal product, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider if you have a specific medical condition or take prescription medications.

Ingredients & Health Benefits

How does ashwagandha support men's hormonal health?

Ashwagandha is a well-studied adaptogen that has been shown to help lower cortisol levels, which in turn may support healthy testosterone production. Research also suggests it can improve stress resilience, physical endurance, and reproductive health in men. It's a foundational ingredient in our Vitality Blend, where it works alongside horny goat weed, saw palmetto, and turmeric for a comprehensive approach to male vitality.

What are the benefits of yerba mate for energy and focus?

Yerba mate delivers a clean, sustained energy lift thanks to its natural caffeine content combined with theobromine and polyphenols. Unlike coffee, it tends to provide alertness without jitters or a hard crash. It also contains naturally occurring L-theanine precursors that promote calm focus. Yerba mate is the lead ingredient in our Energy Blend, paired with guayusa and Siberian ginseng for amplified mental clarity.

How do hops promote better sleep?

Hops have been used for centuries as a natural sedative. They are believed to support gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) activity in the brain, which helps calm the nervous system and promote sleep onset. Clinical studies suggest hops can improve sleep quality without the grogginess associated with pharmaceutical sleep aids. You'll find hops alongside chamomile, passionflower, and skullcap in our Nighttime Blend.

Does fenugreek actually support testosterone levels?

Fenugreek is a popular men's health botanical, and some studies suggest it may support free testosterone levels by inhibiting enzymes that convert testosterone to estrogen. However, the evidence is mixed — many studies are small or industry-funded. Fenugreek is not an ingredient in any Tea for Guys blend, but if you'd like to learn more about the botanicals we do use and the research behind them, check out our blog and our Ingredients page.

What does L-theanine do in tea?

L-theanine is an amino acid found naturally in true tea leaves (Camellia sinensis). It promotes alpha brain-wave activity, which is associated with a state of relaxed alertness — focus without anxiety. This is why green tea, which is featured in our Fasting Blend, can feel mentally energizing yet calm at the same time. L-theanine also pairs synergistically with caffeine to smooth out energy spikes.

Why is peppermint included in men's tea blends?

Peppermint supports healthy digestion and can help reduce bloating and stomach discomfort — making it especially useful during fasting windows when the gut can be sensitive. It also adds a refreshing, clean flavor profile. That's why we include it in our Fasting Blend alongside green tea, fennel seed, hibiscus, and fenugreek.

What role does fennel play in the Fasting Blend?

Fennel seed is a traditional digestive aid that can help reduce hunger pangs and support gut motility — two common concerns during intermittent fasting. It also adds a naturally sweet, satisfying flavor that helps make the fasting window easier. In our Fasting Blend, fennel complements green tea and fenugreek for an appetite-suppressing, metabolism-friendly cup.

Does spearmint tea lower testosterone in men?

There is limited research — mostly conducted in women with elevated androgen levels — suggesting spearmint may have mild anti-androgenic effects. However, there is no strong clinical evidence that moderate spearmint consumption significantly lowers testosterone in healthy men. Spearmint is not an ingredient in any Tea for Guys blend, so this isn't a concern with our products. For a full look at what we do include, visit our Ingredients page.

Brewing & Daily Use

What's the ideal water temperature for brewing Tea for Guys?

For the Vitality Blend, Energy Blend, and Nighttime Blend, use freshly boiled water at around 200–212°F (93–100°C). For the Fasting Blend, which contains green tea, a slightly lower temperature of 175–185°F (80–85°C) is ideal to avoid bitterness from the delicate green tea leaves.

How long should I steep my tea?

We recommend steeping for 5–7 minutes to allow the botanicals to fully release their active compounds. Herbal blends like the Vitality, Energy, and Nighttime blends are forgiving and won't turn bitter with longer steeps. The Fasting Blend benefits from a slightly shorter steep of 3–5 minutes, especially if you prefer a lighter, less astringent cup.

How many cups can I drink per day?

Most men enjoy 1–3 cups per day of their chosen blend. For the Energy Blend and Fasting Blend, which contain caffeine, we suggest keeping intake to earlier in the day and staying at or under 3 cups. The caffeine-free Vitality Blend and Nighttime Blend can be enjoyed freely without timing concerns.

Can I add milk or sweetener to Tea for Guys blends?

Absolutely — our blends taste great on their own, but a splash of milk, honey, or your preferred sweetener works well, especially with the chai-spiced Vitality Blend. Just keep in mind that adding calories will break a fast, so if you're using the Fasting Blend during your fasting window, stick to plain tea.

Do I need to refrigerate the tea after opening?

No refrigeration needed. Store your loose-leaf tea in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odors. Reseal the pouch tightly after each use to preserve freshness. Properly stored, your tea will stay fresh for several months after opening.

Fasting & Tea

Does green tea break a fast?

No. Plain green tea is virtually calorie-free and does not trigger an insulin response, so it will not break your fast. In fact, the catechins and caffeine in green tea may enhance fat oxidation and autophagy during a fasted state. Our Fasting Blend is built around green tea for exactly this reason.

Can you drink tea while intermittent fasting?

Yes. Most unsweetened herbal teas and true teas are perfectly safe during a fasting window. Tea can actually make fasting easier by curbing appetite, improving hydration, and providing a comforting ritual. Just avoid adding milk, sugar, honey, or any caloric additions during your fast.

What's the best tea for intermittent fasting?

Green tea is widely considered the gold standard for fasting because of its EGCG content, mild caffeine, and metabolic benefits. We designed our Fasting Blend specifically for intermittent fasters, combining green tea with peppermint, fennel seed, hibiscus, and fenugreek — all zero-calorie, fast-friendly ingredients that support digestion and metabolism.

Will the Fasting Blend break my fast?

No. The Fasting Blend contains zero calories when brewed without any additions. Its ingredients — green tea, peppermint, fennel seed, hibiscus, and fenugreek — are all fasting-compatible and won't spike insulin. Drink it freely throughout your fasting window for appetite control and metabolic support.

Sleep & Recovery

What's the best tea for sleep?

Our Nighttime Blend was formulated specifically for deep, restorative sleep. It combines six research-backed botanicals — skullcap, chamomile, hops, damiana, passionflower, and rooibos — that work together to calm the nervous system, reduce racing thoughts, and promote faster sleep onset. It's 100% caffeine-free, so it won't interfere with your sleep cycle.

Does chamomile really work for sleep?

Yes, chamomile has genuine evidence behind it. It contains apigenin, a flavonoid that binds to GABA receptors in the brain and produces a mild sedative effect. Multiple clinical trials have shown it can improve subjective sleep quality, particularly when consumed consistently. In our Nighttime Blend, chamomile is reinforced by hops and passionflower for a stronger overall effect.

How long before bed should I drink sleep tea?

We recommend drinking your Nighttime Blend about 30–60 minutes before you plan to sleep. This gives the botanicals time to begin working while also allowing you to make a final bathroom trip before hitting the pillow. Making it part of a consistent nightly routine amplifies its effectiveness over time.

Can tea help with post-workout recovery?

Certain botanicals have anti-inflammatory and adaptogenic properties that may support recovery. The turmeric and ginger in our Vitality Blend are well-known for reducing exercise-induced inflammation, while the ashwagandha in the same blend has been studied for improving muscular recovery and reducing markers of muscle damage. For nighttime recovery, the Nighttime Blend supports the deep sleep that's essential for muscle repair and hormone production.
